Pennsylvania House Passes Drug Formulary Bill

By Brian Allen, VP of Government Affairs

On April 16, 2018, the Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed SB936 with a 101-92 vote. This bill directs the Department of Labor and Industry to establish a drug formulary for their workers' compensation system. The legislation endured a protracted political battle with a lot pf rhetoric and misinformation with strong opposition right up to the final vote. The bill will now go to Governor Tom Wolf for action. The Governor has ten days to take action on the legislation. He can sign it, veto it or let it take effect without his signature. Governor Wolf has been engaged in an active and effective campaign to reduce the use of opioids in Pennsylvania. We hope he will view this bill as another strategic piece in that puzzle and sign the legislation.
